Oven Phobia Gone.

I'm oven phobic no more.

That's what I proudly told myself after completing my 6-hour baking workshop at Heny Sison Culinary School. I'm among the 9 oven phobics who attended Chef Patty Loanzon's  BAKING 101 for the Oven Phobic class last December 14 .

I was nervous at the start of the class but was relieved after learning that all of us had no baking experience. Well, I've experience baking once during our Home Economics class in high school but I couldn't remember the whole process.

I was seated at the second row sharing the table with 3 others who later became my group mates - Mommy Delia, Bev, and Jamie.

Chef Patty giving an intro on baking

The first 1-1/2 hour was spent on lecture where we got to learn the basic baking terms and techniques. I tried to jot down all the important tips Chef Patty shared with us. I missed being a student.

It was then followed up by a demo of the first recipe, Lola's Butter Cake.

Just before the break, we were asked to do that same recipe by group.

All the ingredients are placed in the tray, already measured out and placed in individual containers. In french, it's called "Mise en place" meaning "everything in place". See? I'm learning. The dry ingredients have already been premixed too.

From time to time, Chef Patty would check on our progress.

We finished at exactly 4pm. We were called one by one and were handed our certificates.

my certificate signed by Chef Patty and THE Heny Sison =)

I was happy with how the workshop turned out. I may only have a 25% contribution to the whole baking process but I'm proud with what the group had accomplished.

We divided the baked goodies among our group. Everyone was happy with a big box to take home.

The workshop fee by the way costs Php 2,500. That's inclusive of all the ingredients for the 6 recipes we made and a certificate of completion. You just need to bring your own apron and lots of confidence. =p

  1. Hi! would you mind sharing the recipe for the chocolate chip cookies? I'm curious about the glucose in the ingredient.

  4. Wow!! Looks really delish! How I wish maka attend din ako ng workshop. I still remember nung grade school ako favorite ko panoorin yung cooking show ni Heny Sison sa channel 13. LOL. Gustong-gusto ko talaga matuto mag bake kaso wala lang chance. Up until now na may work na ako, wala pa kaming oven for baking.

Microwave oven kasi nabili namin before. huhu! Sayang.
