Once Upon A Cantonese Winter: On Board the Ding Ding Tram
Feb 21 2011 - Right after a quick stroll at the Avenue of the Stars, we got on the train headed to Central. We had one more goal to fulfill and that is to ride the famous Ding Ding tram. So we went out of the Central station and off we went to Des Voeux Road.
I've always wanted to ride a Ding Ding Tram. I get amazed every time I see one passing along Des Voeux road along side other vehicles. I take pictures whenever I spot one.
And finally for the first time, we got the chance to ride the ding ding tram.We got on 27E (the station nearest Pedder Street) and went to the upper deck.
The HK tram is one of the oldest public transpos in Hong Kong. It's been operating for over 100 years. It runs on an east-west route starting from Shau Kei Wan all the way to Kennedy Town and vise versa.
The Ding Ding Tram is cheap at 2HKD per ride.
The route is a bit confusing as there are about 4-5 lines which head to different destinations. If you happen to get lost, just board another tram or look for the nearest MTR station.
The views that the tram offers are magnificent - from tall buildings it changes to busy pedestrian streets. It's like watching Hong Kong life in action.
Nevertheless, we found our way to our destination.

We were supposed to alight at Paterson Street (the one nearest Sogo Dept. Store) so I was surprised when the tram made a right turn. Still had no idea where we are, we decided to get off at the next stop. It was on Foo Ming Street. And yes, we got on the wrong tram. It was heading to Happy Valley and not Causeway Bay. See what I mean? The route is confusing, isn't it?
Nevertheless, we found our way to our destination.
Hi ask lang po saan pwede bumaba sa admiralty if mag-ding ding tram na malapit sa mtr station?
ReplyDeletePwede kayo bumaba sa tapat ng Pacific Place. Opposite side nun yung Admiralty MTR station =) I think kapag eastbound it's 35E tapos pag wesbound naman 64W. Hope this helps.
