EBPS Day 3: I like pie. Do you like pie?
"Is this the baking class?" We all looked back to see a new
classmate who arrived in the middle of Chef Heny's demo. As the class
progressed, I can't help but notice the late comer as she's super tensed
especially when their group was doing the hands-on. The class went on
for another hour when we heard Chef Heny telling the late comer, "You're
in the wrong class." It turned out that the late comer was not enrolled
in our class and she was there to attend the Baking 101 Workshop which
was scheduled at 3PM. Uh-oh. Awkward.
July 20, Saturday.
Chef Heny Sison was our teacher for today. Lucky I didn't arrive late. There was another addition in the class, Maricor, a lawyer. I wonder if we will have new classmate next meeting? The class started by 8:20 so we had plenty of time to fix our ourselves and have a little chit-chat.
I was excited and scared at the same time because finally I came face to face with the famous chef. We introduced ourselves first then she started with the lecture. She discouraged us from taking down notes during the lecture and told us we should have read our notes before going to class. (Ouch!)
Anyway, her lecture was just short, it didn't take an hour. She only discussed the important items then she proceeded with the demo.
Here's Chef Heny, showing us how to make a pie crust.
We
were given the liberty to choose our group mates and recipe to do. I
was
again group mates with Grace and Dara and we chose to do the Triple
Chocolate Cheesecake and Coconut Cream Pie. Instead of doing our
assignments on our own, each group was given their slot to do the
hands-on while the rest of the class watches. This way, we can learn all
the techniques on doing a certain recipe.
Since we have yet to learn the basic cake decorating next meeting, Chef Heny did all the finishing of our baked goods.
